MALAYSIA HOSTS WORKING VISIT OF MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF AUSTRALIA 5 – 7 NOVEMBER 2021

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, will receive his Australian counterpart, Senator the Hon. Marise Payne, during the latter’s first visit to Malaysia as a Foreign Minister from 5 until 7 November 2021.

 

The Ministers will co-chair the fourth Malaysia-Australia Annual Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM) on 6 November 2021. It is the first AFMM after the Prime Ministers of Malaysia and Australia launched the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) on 27 January 2021.

 

While in Malaysia Senator Payne is also scheduled to hold meetings with the Senior Minister of Defence, Hon. Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, and the Minister of Health, Hon. Khairy Jamaluddin.

 

Malaysia and Australia are close and important partners. The visit will provide opportunity for both sides to consolidate the multi-faceted relations, particularly under the CSP framework covering such areas as trade and investment, education, tourism, defence, people-to-people ties, as well as post-COVID-19 cooperation.

 

The visit will be held in full compliance with the prevailing COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in Malaysia.
