PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia, Malaysia strongly condemns the heinous attack, at the Shiite Cultural Centre in Kabul, that killed at least 41 people and injured numerous other innocent victims, on Thursday.

In a statement, Wisma Putra (Foreign Ministry), said, Malaysia also expressed its deepest condolences and sympathies to the Government of Afghanistan and to the bereaved families.

It is our hope that the perpetrators of the despicable crime would be expeditiously identified and brought to justice, it said.

CNN reported that the attack rocked the centre, located in the basement of a building, in the west of the city, at around 10.30 am on Thursday.

It reported that a crowd of not more than 100 people, mostly students, were meeting at the cultural centre, to mark the anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, when a bomber infiltrated the crowd and detonated the device.

It was reported that the Daesh had claimed responsibility for the suicide bomb attack.
