Ilagan City pole vaulters snag 1-2-3 finish in ICTSI finals

Showing their might in men’s pole vault, the City of Ilagan-National Team snagged the three-medal sweep during the final day of games at the ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships here on Sunday. Filipino-American athlete Elijah Cole took the gold with his 5.05-meter cleared pole vault bar, eclipsing compatriot and local favorite Hokett Delos Santos who cleared 5-meter for silver. Janry Ubas settled for bronze with his 4.65-meter cleared bar. Cole, a 24-year-old United States resident playing for the Philippines, is 178th among pole vaulters worldwide, down from his 131 highest ranking. His personal best in the outdoors was 5.41 meters he registered at the Dick Vert Stadium, High Point in North Carolina, United States of America on April 16, 2022. He had a 5.28-meter record indoors at the CrossPlex Athletic Facility, Birmingham in Alabama, United States on Feb. 22, 2020. Cole was fifth in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational held at the Liberty Indoor Complex, Lynchburg, Virginia, USA with 5.08 meters on Feb. 11, 2023. Delos Santos, a 20-year-old hometown bet from Santa Isabel Norte in this city, was recorded 263rd among pole vaulters worldwide and a two-time national champion. Ubas, more known as a long jumper (90th worldwide) and decathlon player (213th worldwide), has been registered as 666th among pole vaulters worldwide
