Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here this morning at the Peace Palace a courtesy visit from H.E. Jusuf Kalla, Chairman of the Centrist Asia Pacific Democrats International (CAPDI).

According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Personal Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, H.E. Jusuf Kalla, also Chairman of Indonesian Mosque Council, admired Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his leadership which brought about peace, stability and especially religious harmonisation to Cambodia.

H.E. Jusuf Kalla added that he accompanied over 100 Muslims to Cambodia to attend an Iftar dinner, and what he noted yesterday was the harmonisation and solidarity between religions in the Kingdom.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked H.E. Jusuf Kalla and his delegation for attending the Iftar dinner, stressing that Cambodia organises the event every year.

The Prime Minister also reaffirmed the harmony of all religions in Cambodia, particularly between Islam, Christianity and Buddhism.

At the Iftar dinner, held at Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh on May 27, Malaysian Prime Minister Honorable Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim underlined that Cambodia can set a good example of understanding and tolerance.

“Cambodia is a country where Muslims are the minorities, but we have a leader, Prime Minister Hun Sen, […] who respect the people of other faiths,” he said.

Even though Buddhism is the state religion of Cambodia, the Royal Government fully guarantees the freedom of belief and religious harmony in the country.
