Asia’s population is rapidly aging and many countries are reviewing their existing social security and pension systems to better respond to the growing needs of older persons. The International Social Security Project of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) has generated international comparative evidence on old-age social security and pension programs across the advanced economies. Can lessons from other parts of the world help Asia keep its old-age support structures robust?
