Greek deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatides said it is a crucial time in negotiations for a solution to the Cyprus problem.

In a speech at Kilkis on Saturday, referring to external policy issues, Amanatides said that "we should stress that it is a crucial, historic time in the negotiations for a solution to the Cyprus problem and also our relations with our neighbouring country Turkey".

He also said that looking at the negotiations at the conference in Geneva and the meetings at experts level in Mont Pelerin, the issues under discussion, namely the abolition of the anachronistic system of guarantees and withdrawal of Turkish troops on the island are a clear upgrade in the ongoing discussions.
