YAB Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Bin Hamidi will undertake an Official Visit to the State of Qatar from 4 to 7 February 2017. YAB Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by senior government officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The aim of the visit is to further enhance the close relations between the two countries. It will provide an excellent opportunity for leaders of both countries to discuss various issues of mutual interest particularly in security cooperation.

During the visit, YAB Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to have an audience with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and call on His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

YAB Deputy Prime Minister will also visit the National Command Center (NCC) in Lusail City, Doha. The NCC was established by the Qatari Government to provide a coordinated response for all relevant government agencies to both local and national emergencies. Aside from the NCC, YAB Deputy Prime Minister will also visit the Planned Community Projects in Lusail City which involves Malaysian investment valued at RM1.2 billion, and to Hamad International Airport which is managed by a subsidiary of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) for maintenance services contract valued at RM600 million. In addition to these, YAB Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with the Malaysian diaspora in Qatar.
