Emphasizing the need to ensure the health and welfare of the Department of Labor and Employment's human resource, Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III recently renewed its agreement with the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc., which will be offering discounted medical services to DOLE officials and employees.

We are committed to assist your organization in order to boost the morale of your people and give inspiration to continue your duty to protect and defend the rights of the Filipinos and harmonize the interest of labor and management. Our continuing agreement is a symbol of the enduring friendship and collaboration between the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. and the DOLE, said Dr. James G. Dy, President and CEO of Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center.

In response, Labor Secretary Bello thanked the officers and members of the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc., for the memorandum of agreement.

We appreciate this gesture and we look forward to our people visiting the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center to avail of your medical services. I would like to extend my personal thanks for this very remarkable manifestation of kindness to our people at the DOLE, Bello said.

As stated in the memorandum of agreement, in the event of emergency cases and hospital confinement involving DOLE officials or employees, the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc., through the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, shall provide diagnosis and treatment, including major operations or surgeries, with 50 percent discount from charges on room occupancy, and 30 percent discount on laboratory, pulmonary, and x-ray services.

To avail of the said discounts, the patient must present an office identification card and a written request or referral duly signed by the Chief Administrative Officer/Administrative Division or officer duly authorized by the DOLE Secretary for the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc., to extend the benefits described in the memorandum of agreement to the patient.

In the absence of a valid identification card, a certification duly signed by the Chief Administrative Officer/Administrative Division or by an officer duly authorized by the DOLE Secretary that the patient is an official or regular employee of DOLE may be presented.

Signed by DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III and Dr. Benito Goyokpin, Chairman of the Board and Dr. James G. Dy, President and CEO of Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, the memorandum of agreement shall be valid for a period of one year subject to renewal 30 days before its expiration, as may be agreed upon by both parties.

The Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association, Inc., is a non-government organization principally formed for charitable purposes and is the owner and operator of Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, located in 286 Blumentritt St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.
