MANILA — In response to the severe impact of Tropical Storm Enteng and the southwest monsoon, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) conducted relief operations, distributing essential goods to over 5,500 flood-affected families across several communities.
According to Philippines News Agency, the relief efforts took place on September 2 and 3, targeting areas hardest hit by continuous heavy rains. The aid included food packs—comprising rice, canned goods, and grocery items—and non-food packs that contained mosquito nets and toiletries. “The typhoon season is here again. Unfortunately, many families who live in disaster-prone communities are in a very vulnerable situation,” Tengco stated in a news release on Wednesday.
Initial distributions were made to the local governments of San Pedro, Laguna, and Bacoor, Cavite, both of which experienced severe flooding. On the following day, the agency’s efforts extended to San Mateo, Rizal, continuing to support communities grappling with the aftermath of the weather events.
Tengco emphasized that providing timely aid is part of PAGCOR’s commitment to nation-building and social responsibility. “Part of our social responsibility commitment is to help ease their plight by providing them with immediate aid like food and other essentials,” he noted. The relief efforts are set to continue as more communities in Luzon and Metro Manila reach out to PAGCOR for assistance during this challenging typhoon season.
