NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION — The National Power Corporation (Napocor) reported that there are currently no spill operations at Binga and Ambuklao dams, with water levels maintained within normal high levels despite recent heavy rains affecting various parts of the country.
According to Philippines News Agency, officer-in-charge of Napocor’s Dams Management Department, the spillway gates of both Ambuklao and Binga Dams remain closed as of Wednesday afternoon. Ambuklao Dam’s water level was recorded at 748.72 meters above sea level, slightly below its normal high of 752 meters. Similarly, Binga Dam was measured at 572.06 meters, with a normal high of 575 meters.
Other dams, such as Angat, Caliraya, and San Roque, also reported levels within normal ranges. Angat Dam’s water stood at 189.47 meters, Caliraya at 287.14 meters, and San Roque at 254.58 meters, indicating stable conditions across these critical infrastructures.
However, La Mesa Dam has slightly exceeded its spilling level, reaching 80.19 meters compared to the spilling threshold of 80.15 meters. This has prompted the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) to issue warnings of potential overflows affecting areas along the Tullahan River.
PAGASA continues to monitor the situation closely, expecting moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall to persist across Luzon over the next three days due to an enhanced southwest monsoon, which may impact dam water levels and necessitate further assessments.
