Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) from 1 to 2 October 2017, as part of Singapore's continued engagement with countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
In Jeddah, SMS Maliki met with the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr Nizar Madani. SMS Maliki conveyed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's letter of invitation to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince of KSA, to visit Singapore. They also reaffirmed the close bilateral ties between Singapore and KSA, and explored ways to strengthen this relationship.
SMS Maliki also met with His Excellency Dr Hani Abu Ras, the Mayor of Jeddah. They exchanged views on how Singapore and Jeddah could share best practices in sustainable cities and urban development.
SMS Maliki also met with Shura Council members Dr Ghazi Binzagr and Dr Tariq Fadakh, as well as former member Dr Sattam Lingawi. They explored various opportunities for collaboration in light of KSA's latest national development plans.
SMS Maliki arrived in Singapore earlier today.
