LOS ANGELES - The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles joined Angelenos in a farewell mass for Auxiliary Bishop Oscar Solis at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles on February 01.
Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles, celebrated the farewell mass with the auxiliary bishops and clerics of the diocese. Before the concluding rite, well-wishers delivered short remarks and presented Bishop Solis with gifts. Among those who spoke were Father Albert Avenido of Carson City's St. Philomena Parish, Acting Head of Post Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III, Board members of the Ethnic Ministry, and representatives of the Filipino Ministry.
Bishop Solis, will be the 10th bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City in Utah. He will be serving a diocese of 300,000 Catholics that spans the entire state. He will be officially installed as Salt Lake City's Bishop in a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Madeline on March 07. END
