The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato' Sri Anifah Hj. Aman will lead the Malaysian delegation to attend the 15th Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia from 10 to 11 August 2017. Dato' Sri Anifah will be accompanied by senior government officials of related agencies.
The JCBC will be co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Indonesian counterpart, Her Excellency Retno L.P. Marsudi. The JCBC will discuss the progress of bilateral cooperation as well as to follow up on the decisions made by Prime Minister of Malaysia and the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the 11th Annual Consultation in Jakarta last year. The 14th JCBC was held in Kuala Lumpur on 9 and 10 October 2015.
A Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) will be held prior to the Ministerial Meeting. Among issues that are expected to be discussed include the progress on maritime boundary delimitation and land boundary demarcation, treatment and welfare of fishermen, Indonesian domestic and migrant workers, trade and investment as well as other issues of mutual interest.
The convening of the 15th JCBC this year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations, commemorating the long-standing and close bilateral relations between the two countries.
